Zooey Deschanel Conquers Your TV Sets

Zooey Deschanel, the actor who had played the cool elder sister in Cameron Crowe's semi-autobiographical movie Almost Famous. She's lead singer of the band She & Him which had released a couple of albums to date, Volume One and Volume Two. She's wife to the famous Ben Gibbard of Death Cab for Cutie and The Postal Service. Now she's about to conquer TV with a brand new TV series from Fox: New Girl.

Clearly, she's got her hands full but nothing's stopping her from sharing her bubbly and witty personality to all of us TV addicts!

Zooey Deschanel plays Jessica Day, who breaks up with her boyfriend after catching him red handed with another girl, in their apartment. So she has to find a new place and oddly found one with three guy roommates who let her stay in their flat just because she has models for friends. The three guys, Jake M. Johnson as Nick, Max Greenfield as Schmidt and Lamorne Morris as Winston, struggle as Jessica Day struggles with the post-break-up drama.

There has been a lot of TV shows in the planet but I think this will totally get you glued to your TV sets. You'd be smothered with her cuteness and quirkiness every week. She's just loveable and this shows looks pretty hilarious. It's definitely something to look forward to.

It's great how she's gotten this far. From supporting roles to lead roles and now on TV. I think actors get more audience on TV. Deschanel is a girl for the movies, so I think this show adds some spice to your weekly TV ritual. It's probably going to be like watching her movies every week.

New Girl premieres on FOX on the 20th of September, 2011 Tuesday at 9/8c.

Rakenrol

Behind the office desk, the cigarette smoke and this awkward person is a Fan Girl who used to collect every Jingle magazine issue, listened to every radio stations that play rock songs, cut out music artist's photos in magazines, and send fan mails. This was a fan girl whose taste in music was shaped by the constant replay of the Eraserheads' Circus album when she was 11 and the late night music sessions with her brothers. This was a fan girl who dreamed of being in a band, listened to Alanis Morissette cassette tapes when her high school classmates were into Spice Girls, and learned to play the guitar at 13 but somehow never continued that on a later life.

Of course, I'm talking about myself. Now there's actually a movie that talks just about that, and it's entitled Rakenrol. Directed by the ultimate fan boy himself -- Quark Henares. Co-written by Sandwich's Guitarist-extraordinaire Diego Castillo. It's a story I  have always wanted for myself and somehow these two guys have got the courage, talent and wit to actually put it together in one great movie.

It's a story of two best friends who have loved rock and roll all their lives, Odie and Irene. When Irene heard Odie's self-recorded songs, they decided to form a band. They recruited Mo, an ex-punk-turned-barista and Junfour as drummer, a bully who knew nothing about bands. They called themselves: Hapipaks. It lead them to meet their manager, an ex-childstar-turned-band-manager, named Matet. After playing a few gigs, Irene met and dated her "all-time super crush" rockstar Jacchi Rocha. The plot thickens when Odie came to realize that he is secretly in love with his best friend -- Irene.

Don't be fooled by the seriousness of the plot though, because this movie has nothing but humor from start to end. You might even piss yourself laughing. It also features cameos of legendary, as well as indie musicians. For those who have followed the Philippine rock music scene, those who go to gigs, those who buy our local bands' albums, those who listens to local rock radio stations, those who have local bands' posters on their wall, and those who ever dreamed of being in a band -- this movie is dearly made for you.

It's going to be shown in the local cinema starting on the 21st of September, 2011. Get updates by following them on Facebook. Watch their trailer below:
